Ryan Mah is a filmmaker based in Vancouver, Canada. A founding member of award winning production company Black Rhino Creative, he has extensive background experience in documentary productions that have screened on CBC, AMI TV, Knowledge Network, Telus Optik, Air Canada and SBS Australia.
DANNY BERISH
DIRECTOR
Danny Berish is an award winning director. Over the last 20 years, he has created content for broadcasters such as AMI CBC Gem, YTV, Discovery Channel, IFC and CTV.
He is currently in production on a feature length documentary chronicling the life of world famous architect Arthur Erickson airing on Knowledge Network and a five part travel series airing on AMI, exploring Canada through the lens of the disabled community.
Past awards include a Leo Award for best direction, Yorktown Film Festival Golden Sheaf Award and Best Doc Series of the year by Doc Weekly.
LEAH MALLEN
EXEC PRODUCER
Leah Mallen has produced film, television, and digital content for over twenty years. Her past credits have garnered many awards and accolades including a Best Short Film Award at the Cannes Film Festival’s Critic’s Week, a Best Documentary Film at the Zurich Film Festival, and multiple Best Apps Awards at Kidscreen. She has distributed her content around the world, including such platforms and broadcasters such as HBO, Sundance, Hulu, BBC, ARTE, CBC and Knowledge Network. She was one of six international producers selected to attend the Binger Film Lab in Amsterdam, is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Producer Lab, and has chaired or sat on many creative boards, including the Hot Docs International Film Festival board, DOCBC, and Vancouver’s Cinematheque. She also produces the Architecture and Design Film Festival in Vancouver which just launched its first year.
JOANNA WONG
PRODUCER
JOANNA WONG is a Vancouver-born queer Producer with a passion for cross-cultural content. Her work has aired on CBC, Knowledge Network, AMI TV and TELUS Optik.
From 2010-2020, Joanna co-founded and led FLOW, a creative studio in Beijing, China producing original content in English, French and Chinese for global audiences. Since moving back to Canada, Joanna’s work continues to explore her Chinese-Canadian heritage and other underrepresented stories. She is an Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Media Fellow.

Whether it’s documenting the struggling outer city kids of North Chicago, the impoverished favelas in São Paulo, Brazil, or the war torn city of Kabul, Afghanistan he is ready to take calculated risks to get the shot. Rich strives to merge the sciences and art, for a craft that is in a constant state of learning while knowing full well the emotion and story supersede all of it. Appreciates the beauty in the brutal honesty of mathematics and the immeasurable subjectivity of the arts.
JOHN COOK
PRODUCER’S ASSISTANT
John Cook is an emerging BIPOC Producer and Director with a background in finance and business affairs. Before entering film, he spent over five years at CIBC and two years as Finance and Business Coordinator for a Venture Development Company.
John has directed two short films, produced five others, and created a short documentary. Passionate about impactful storytelling, he blends creativity and business acumen to bring narratives to life.
In 2025, John will earn his Entertainment Law certificate from York University in Toronto.
